Overdentures, also known as implant-supported dentures or implant-retained dentures, are a type of dental prosthesis that combines dental implants with a removable denture to replace missing teeth.
In an overdenture, dental implants are surgically placed into the jawbone to serve as anchors for the denture. The denture is then securely attached to the implants using various attachment mechanisms, such as locator attachments, ball attachments, or bar attachments. The denture can be easily removed for cleaning and maintenance, but it is securely held in place by the implants during normal use.

These implants are typically placed at the front of the jawline where there is the most bone, and fewest nerves. There can be anywhere from two to ten implants depending on your bone structure to support the denture. With a ball-retained denture, the implants each have an attachment which allows the denture to ‘snap’ into place on your implants.
